Merzig as the "capital of the Viezstraße," the leisure paradise Losheim am See and the ceramics community Mettlach offer numerous attractive sights during the ride through the valleys and forests. And after the cycling pleasure, the breweries reward the effort with fresh beer and a hearty regional snack.
The gourmet route starts at the town hall in Merzig. From here, the path leads through the city park towards the old town. Along the Seferbach, it continues towards Brotdorf and Bachem. Behind Bachem, the route winds through a beautiful wooded area towards Losheim am See. Through the town center, it goes towards the reservoir lake to the Hochwälder Brauhaus, the first tasty stop with a view of the lake.
From Losheim am See, it goes via the Saarland cycle path through a varied forest landscape down to the ceramics community of Mettlach. Here, the ride can be interrupted for a visit to the ceramics experience worlds and the factory outlet of Villeroy & Boch. But also worth seeing are the tomb church of Saint Lutwinus and the old abbey with the old tower and park. The Mettlach Abbey Brewery invites you to stop for regional delicacies. Excursion boats are available on the Saar riverbank for round trips.
The 3-brewery circuit now follows the Saar upstream and leads through the famous and impressive Saar loop. Here, the wine bar of the Saarschleifenlodge and the gourmet station at the Welles ferry offer further culinary highlights of the Saar loop region. Through Dreisbach, you continue along the Saar to the last brewery of the route. At the marina in Merzig, the Saarfürst Brewery awaits to round off the route.
