The Bietzerberg is a Muschelkalk plateau on the right bank of the Saar. The e-bike route of the same name first explores the mountain with its charming villages and then runs along the foot of the plateau along the Saar.

The tour follows the "Viezstraße" at certain points, a tourist route on the subject of apple wine. Along the entertaining tour, there is information on the subject of Viez and views of the apple trees.

The tour starts at the town hall in Merzig, goes through the city center, past the impressive St. Peter's parish church, and then up to the Bietzerberg. With fantastic views of the Saar valley, the Saargau, and all the way into France, the path runs along the heights through meadows, fields, and small forest sections. The picturesque villages of Harlingen, Bietzen, and Menningen are touched. Above Harlingen, one of our enjoyment stations invites you to linger. In Saarfels, it goes steeply downhill again, past the Saargarten Beckingen. The openly designed park is located directly on the Saar.

Just a short stretch goes along the Saar upstream before the e-bike route crosses the Saar at the Rehlingen-Beckingen dam and then heads downstream towards Merzig on the Saar cycle path. By crossing the river again over the pedestrian bridge at Fremersdorf, the path reaches the right bank of the Saar once more and soon the Bietzer healing spring with its healing water. Shortly thereafter, the starting point at the town hall is reached again.
