Directions
Ready, set, go!
At the HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE in Wartha, you can visit a permanent natural history exhibition. Now we set off towards Lömischau. Past Lömischau, the route continues to Guttau. On this road, there is already a model newly planted traditional orchard row with about 70 trees. In Guttau, we turn right and later right again towards Salga. From there, we reach Malschwitz on the way, where the Trittmacher bakery or small village shops invite you to take a break.
Refreshed, we head towards Kleinbautzen, turning right on the district road and shortly afterwards left. Pastor Adam Gottlob Schirach was active in Kleinbautzen; his commitment to beekeeping is commemorated with a beautifully designed monument with a rest area. At the Kleinbautzen church, the Schirach circular trail starts, a marked hiking trail about Schirach and the bees.
From Kleinbautzen, we continue straight on the district road and after the village turn left onto the road to Cannewitz. Along this road stands an old row of street trees of the regional apple variety "Lausitzer Nelkenapfel," which gave the tourist cycling route its name. Arriving in Cannewitz, we reach the intermediate destination of the cycling route with the Apfelscheune. After prior registration, it is also possible to purchase freshly pressed apple juice here.
From the Apfelscheune, we continue on the farm road to the district road and then right towards Rackel. In Rackel, at the main junction in the middle of the village, we turn left and cycle past meadows to the avenue of Baruth Castle. There we turn right, follow the avenue past the castle to the village street. We follow the village street to the left and cycle to the church. There, an exhibition about bats can be visited.
We then follow the road to Dubrauke. On the right lies the former Baruth manor, where an agricultural museum is to be established, and a traditional orchard is to be created. The path leads us past the former basalt works, where guided tours are available upon request. Lined with old pear trees, the path takes us to Neudörfel, where a 2-hectare traditional orchard is being developed and can be visited. After turning left in Kleinsaubernitz, we cycle past Olba on the right and continue to Wartha. In suitable weather, a small swim in Lake Olba is recommended.
Following the main road, we return to the HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE.
