Bei de Hullerkeppe - hiking in the spirit of juniper

The themed hiking trail “Bei de Hullerkeppe” was established on the occasion of the village’s 600th anniversary in 2018 and deals with both the Dotzlar dialect and the juniper plant.

“Welcome to the juniper heads!” the name means in standard German: On one hand, because the villagers like to drink juniper schnapps, on the other hand, because the route passes by three juniper heaths.

The 19-kilometer-long path offers remarkable places and geological peculiarities. Enjoy the beautiful views and marvel at the diverse fauna: sometimes juniper appears as a tree, sometimes as a shrub—a true master of transformation.

Through this six-hour hike, some of the most beautiful juniper heaths in the Wittgenstein region are connected. A possible division of the path into three stages offers you a varied hiking experience.
