Circular hike south of Markneukirchen

From the Musical Instrument Museum, which is located in the late baroque townhouse, the "Paulusschlösschen", we follow the green marking through the Bienengarten, the Schützenstraße and turn into Ludwigsweg. At the swimming pool, turn right uphill to Hetzschen. Here we switch to the yellow marking and continue hiking uphill to the secluded farm Schloßpenzel. On the ridge path, which here is part of the Vogtland Panorama Trail, we come to the resting place at the Waldecke above Wernitzgrün. We enjoy the magnificent panoramic view and turn right, following the yellow marking again, to the connecting road Markneukirchen - Wernitzgrün. At the edge of the forest, the path now leads us down into the Bärenwinkel and further, now marked in green, to the Holzmühle. The last section of our route is accompanied by the blue marking with the logo of the Vogtland Panorama Trail. At the historical monument "Alte Schanze", a post-medieval border trench built during the Schmalkaldic War 1546/47, it gradually ascends to the mountain inn Heiterer Blick and further up to the Bismarck Column. The Bismarck Column is the first column dedicated to the founder of the German Empire in Saxony, built in 1900 on the initiative of the Royal Saxon Military Association I Markneukirchen. Here the wide view over the hiking area and the view of the city Markneukirchen rewards us for our efforts. Now just steeply down the Egerstraße and Kirchsteig to our destination, the Musical Instrument Museum. A visit to this interesting museum, with over 3000 exhibits from all over the world, is an absolute must.
