This circular hike leads from Grünbach train station via the Rissfälle, along the Göltzsch to the Falkenstein reservoir, and back over the Göltzschbastei to Grünbach.

Highlights of the route are the Rissfälle, the Falkenstein reservoir and the Bastei above the Göltzsch. The circular route runs mainly on rock trails 1 and 2 and is particularly suitable for families.

Directions

Grünbach train station - turn right in front of the Nordic Camp (onto rock trail 2) towards the Rissfälle - after the Rissfälle turn left (yellow hiking trail marking) until you meet rock trail 2 again - follow the Göltzsch to the Falkenstein reservoir - a circuit of the reservoir with crossing of the dam wall is a worthwhile extension of the route - otherwise keep to the left side of the reservoir and turn uphill into the forest - return to Grünbach via Lohbergfelsen and Luisenfels until you meet rock trail 1 - follow this to Grünbach train station

Alternative:

If arriving/departing by public transport, the circular route can also be varied to a point-to-point route between Grünbach train station and Falkenstein train station.

Directions & Parking facilities

A 72 Hof-Chemnitz, exit Plauen-East, continue via B 169 towards Falkenstein. In the town center of Falkenstein go straight ahead towards Grünbach. In Grünbach go straight ahead, and at the main road that turns right continue straight to the train station.

Free parking is available at Grünbach train station. The start of the hike is located at the railway barrier.

The Grünbach train station is very well accessible by the Vogtlandbahn from the directions Plauen/Mehltheuer, Zwickau/Auerbach and Kraslice/Klingenthal/Schöneck. Information on travel by bus and train is available at www.vogtlandauskunft.de as well as via the hotline 03744 19449
