The south of Wilsdruff offers a variety of trails with lots of discovery potential for young and old.

The "Around Wilsdruff" cycle route is a beautiful route through the south of the Wilsdruff region.

The tour leads along beautiful cycle paths on the former narrow-gauge railway line, which was used by steam locomotives on narrow-gauge tracks until 1974, but is now ideal for exploring by bike.

At the beginning, you leave the city center and after a few meters you pass numerous fields that are in full rape blossom in spring, ride through tree-lined avenues and finally through forests.The Triebisch river accompanies the start of the route and is crossed repeatedly over small wooden bridges.

There are several worthwhile detours along the route, including the Limbach manor, which is close to the route. For refreshments and groceries, there is the Flade farm with a milk tapping point directly on the route, where you can also admire the many cows, pigs and the farm dog.

A stop at the Mohorn outdoor pool provides refreshment in summer. If you wish, you can quickly change the season, because a few meters behind you will be immersed in the Christmas spirit, where you can visit the Knox Smoking Candle Museum.

The route also has something to offer geology fans: the open-air geological museum Porphyry Fan Mohorn-Grund. Here you can immerse yourself in the geological history of the region on an educational trail. Afterwards, the strenuous climb up to the Landberg awaits, but it is well worth it. An inn awaits at the top, offering a wonderful view of the nearby region from its beer garden.

The route continues past many farms and country lanes worth seeing, where there are always opportunities to take a break, including at the large oak tree after Pohrsdorf, where there is a beautiful view back to the Landberg.

At the end of the route, there is a view of the former mill of Kaufbach, which adorns the town's coat of arms.

After arriving back in Wilsdruff, you should visit the town's sights, for example the local history museum, the historic locomotive hall, the town hall with its glass carillon or the Jakobi church. You can also stop for refreshments at the market in the surrounding restaurants or bakeries.

The route is suitable for touring bikes, e-bikes and gravel bikes and can also be ridden by road bike in dry weather.

The tour starts in the west of Wilsdruff, right next to the local history museum. From here, follow the signs "Rund um Wilsdruff" (around Wilsdruff) straight ahead along the former narrow-gauge railway line. After approx. 3.5 km, it is worth taking the first detour in the direction of Limbach to the estate located there.

The route itself continues along the railroad line. In the fields, it is worth making a short stop at the "Flade" farm, which is marked as a milk tapping point. The route then rolls comfortably downhill to Helbigsdorf. Here, the former station buildings bear witness to the railroad's past. At the station, keep left into the forest, where forest paths lead along the Triebisch river. These are also the reason for the nearby mills, e.g. the Semmelmühle. A narrow path finally leads to Freiberger Straße, which is crossed directly. Opposite, the route continues to the edge of the Tharandt Forest. Those looking to cool off can jump into the outdoor pool in the small district of "Grund". The Knox smoking candle museum is also worth a visit here.

The route leads into the forest on the left just before the village - the geological highlight "Porphyry Fan" awaits here and should not be missed. It makes sense to take a short break here, as the trail then climbs steeply through the forest up the Schmiedersgrabenweg to the Landberg. At the top, there is a place to stop for refreshments - the "Landberg" inn. After some refreshments, the route continues nicely downhill to the right.

After a few hundred meters, the cycle path turns left through a small modern settlement and leads to Pohrsdorf. There we turn left again into Kirchweg and cycle along field paths. The next stop is worthwhile at the large oak tree. There is also a small lake on the right.

After a short left-right bend, the country lane continues straight ahead into the village of Braunsdorf, and finally in a larger bend to Kesselsdorf. Shortly before the center, we turn right into the allotment garden settlement and reach the Unkersdorfer Straße, which leads us out of the town again.

Kaufbach is the last village before returning to Wilsdruff. Here it is worth taking a look to the left at the former mill and symbol of the village. The route continues straight on back towards the starting point, with the show garden at Keils Gut and the Keils Gut at the entrance to the town being worth a visit. The Jacobi church is also worth a visit. In the center of the town, you finally reach the starting point again.
