Dhünn-Runde (Dhünn Loop)

The Dhünn loop runs from the Rhine via the Balkantrasse up to Burscheid and then from Altenberg downstream along the beautiful Dhünn river back to Leverkusen.

Experience the wonderful natural surroundings both on the green mountain heights of the Balkantrasse panoramic cycle route and in the floodplain areas of the Dhünn, while at the same time following in the footsteps of the impressive industrial heritage along the Dhünn to the Rhine. The circular route takes you past attractive sights such as Altenberg Cathedral, the historic town center of the municipality of Odenthal and the Freudenthaler Sensenhammer industrial museum.

The tour is marked in both directions and can therefore also be cycled in the opposite direction. When planning your route, please note that there is a steep section between Odenthal-Altenberg and Odenthal-Blecher (approx. 108 meters in altitude over 1.8 km). From Altenberg, the route climbs uphill to Blecher. This section is unsuitable for inexperienced cyclists and small children.
