The varied circular route begins at the Elbe Cycle Path, leads through idyllic villages, wineries and viewpoints through the Nassau landscape and the Friedewald. It offers additional adventure potential with detours, e.g. to Boselspitze, the gondola pond at Buschmühle or the Oberau forest spa.

The starting point of this cycle route is located directly on the Elbe Cycle Path and is ideally suited for a detour to the north of the region. Right at the beginning towers the Boselspitze - it is part of the smallest mountain range in Saxony, the Spaargebirge. After a short walk at almost 200 metres altitude, there is an impressive view over the Elbe valley and, in addition to the Botanical Garden, local wine can be tasted in the Boselspitze guesthouse. Such a wine tasting is also worthwhile directly in the first village to be passed on the tour: Sörnewitz. The wineries Henke and Schuh invite you to stop by here.

On the way further, the mountain range is left behind on the left and the Nassau landscape is passed through - formerly a wetland on the Elbe, now a landscape conservation area. On wide paths, the route leads across fields along a ditch landscape. If you feel like it, turn here in the direction of Weinböhla. There, a visit to the Velocium - the Saxon bicycle experience world with an interactive exhibition about the two-wheeler and a historical workshop - is worthwhile.

The route continues north towards Niederau and Oberau. The Oberau water castle is located directly on the route. The Buschmühle, which follows shortly afterwards, is also worth a stop - there is a gondola pond in the outdoor area where you can paddle a pirate ship.

For even more cooling in summer, a stop at the Oberau forest spa, just a few metres from the cycle path, is recommended. The further route also offers cool paths, as it leads through the large forest area, the Friedewald, until you reach the town of Coswig. The town is crossed and you reach the Elbe Cycle Path again, which leads through the small village of Brockwitz. Along the Elbe, you then roll back to the starting point near Sörnewitz.

Directions

The route starts at the Elbe Cycle Path at the turnoff to Sörnewitz. Here, ride into the village and turn left onto Dresdner Straße, follow it briefly in the direction of Boselspitze, then turn right again onto Boselweg. Follow the road around the Spaargebirge, then turn right onto the cycle path to Köhlerstraße. Follow this to the left, then after about 400 m turn right onto the wide field path (Mittelweg). Continue following this until the entrance to Niederau, then continue on the main road to the town centre, turn left onto Göbener Straße and shortly after turn right onto Teichstraße.

Behind the pond, turn right towards Oberauer Straße and follow it. In Oberau, pass the water castle, follow the Thomas-Mü ntzer-Ring and Gröbener Weg of Großdobritzer Straße for about 600 m, then turn right onto Buschmühlenweg and descend to Buschmühle. Then briefly dismount and push up the steep hill to reach the road again.

At the following fork, turn left onto Forststraße. Here, if desired, turn left again directly to the forest spa or continue straight ahead on the route through the forest area for a longer time to reach the entrance to Coswig. The town is crossed via Grenzweg, Spitzgrundstraße and Auerstraße to the small suburb Brockwitz. Here, ride a short distance on Dresdner Straße and turn left into Borngasse, which leads to the Elbe Cycle Path.

Turn right there to return to the starting point in Sörnewitz.
