Erlebnisweg Hilchenbach

Near the village of Ruckersfeld, the 4.5 km long Erlebnisweg Hilchenbach leads through meadows, fields, and the typical Hauberge of the Siegerland. 15 panels provide information and insights about stories along the way: the forest as a place of relaxation, a resource provider, or a habitat for animals and plants. Many panels also offer small interactive activities such as searching for Hauberg marks on trees, feeling tree bark, or looking through a telescope.

Banks and seating areas along the path invite you to rest or observe. Since there are no great changes in elevation and the loop mostly runs on paved paths, it is especially suitable for families with children.

The path, still known by many in Hilchenbach as the Cultural History Learning Trail, starts at the Natur Park Car Park Oberbach (elevation between Herzhausen and Haarhausen) and is continuously marked with a fir tree as the trail sign. Those who haven’t been there for a while will be surprised at how the landscape has changed due to the bark beetle and the views that have opened up.
