"The treasure from the forest – our water," that means: the theme and experience of the trail is the role that the resource water (and also that of the forest spring) plays for people and nature in and around Langenwolschendorf. The forest spring circular trail reveals this treasure and mainly answers these questions:
- What do the people in the village use the water for?
- What is special about the water of the forest spring?
- What effect does the water have in the forest?
- What can be experienced with water during leisure time?
- Where does all this water actually come from?
Hikers are encouraged to follow their curiosity. Both adults and families with children aged around 5 – 10 years are the focus. No one has to be a "hiking pro" here – the path is short, gentle, and only waits at the end with a small panoramic hill (ideally directly above Krähenhübel).
The hiking route runs along the babbling village stream through the town center with beautiful old half-timbered houses as well as through a beautiful mixed forest stand, mostly in the shade of the crowns of native trees. The highlight is the forest spring, where thirsty hikers can refresh and rest. Relax in the forest with idyllic ponds, let your gaze wander over extensive meadows and fields to the Zeulenroda Sea, and reflect in the pretty village church.

Directions
The circular route starts at the parking lot at the municipal office Langenwolschendorf and briefly leads along the main street before turning right into the Lower Village. We walk leisurely along the quiet village street, pass a huge sequoia, and are soon accompanied on the left by the Langenwolschendorf stream. Along the way, we let our gaze wander over beautiful half-timbered houses.
After leaving the village, the path changes from field to mixed forest. Nature lovers will be thrilled here, as several species protection houses now provide shelter and breeding opportunities for protected birds, bats, and insects.
After about 2.5 km, we reach the highlight of the tour - the forest spring. Here there is an opportunity to rest and you can drink from the healthy spring. The tour continues along massive Douglas firs and past idyllic ponds.
After about 3 km, we leave the forest and walk slightly uphill until we notice the Krähenhübel as an elevation. From here, we have a magnificent panoramic view. We return to the village and see the pretty village church on the left and the old village school on the right, which can be visited today as a museum after prior registration.
Tip: Before turning back towards the parking lot at the end of the tour, cross the main street and walk 100 m uphill. There, a detour to the bat experience garden with information boards, activity stations, and resting places is worthwhile.
