The path leads – starting from the Heinrich-Schütz monument at the palace – into the Köstritz Park.

Following the main path, with the temple in the park in view on the left, you cross the country road towards Gera and come into the upper park with old trees to the historic castle bridge. Following the Philosopher's Path, the route leads over the Devil's Bridge to the district of the municipality Hartmannsdorf, Dürrenberg.

Along the just under two-kilometer-long Herrenallee, which is lined with deciduous trees, you repeatedly have a beautiful view of the surroundings, especially at the 294-meter-high Eichberg.

After a short forest section, you soon reach the geological special feature of the 3-story quarry near the Bad Köstritz district Reichardtsdorf via idyllic meadow paths. Along Eleonorenstraße, the circular route concludes at the starting point.
