From the historic town of Zittau in the tri-border area, this stage (part of the Oder-Neisse cycle route) leads through picturesque villages, directly through a women's monastery. The well-paved path mostly runs close to the Neisse and the border with Poland. Part of the route is signposted with the D12 and the triangular cycle route symbol Oder-Neisse cycle route.

Oder-Neisse cycle route

Old towns with great history, unique closeness to nature, romantic parks and gardens as well as dreamy places can be experienced on the approximately 630-kilometer-long cycle route between the Neisse source in Nova Ves nad Nisou in Northern Bohemia (CZ) and the Usedom Nature Park island.

About a quarter of the well-developed route runs on Saxon territory. Stops should be planned in the medieval town of Zittau, at the St. Marienthal monastery in Ostritz, and in the German-Polish town Görlitz/Zgorzelec.

Maybe you also want to cover part of the route by boat on the Neisse? In Rothenburg/O.L. you can switch from bike to boat and drift along the Neisse.

Before the cycle route leads you to Brandenburg, you must definitely stop in the beautiful spa town of Bad Muskau. Located in the middle of the UNESCO Global Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen, it offers visitors beautiful views, vistas, and dreamy landscapes with its UNESCO World Heritage Muskau Park. Exciting exhibitions, for example about Hermann Fürst von Pückler-Muskau, can be seen in the New Castle. After this stop, the cycle route leads along the Neisse and later along the Oder to the Baltic Sea.
