A real attraction is the Asian Garden on the Lebach tea riverbank. It is 2400 m² large, has a 276 m² pond and a 76 meter long watercourse. The pagoda, accessible via three bridges, forms the center of a facility planted with bamboo, pine, winter cherry, weeping willow, peonies and chrysanthemums. And all this was not arranged by chance. Whether the cardinal directions, elements of Taoist philosophy, Chinese harmony principles or the principles of Jing and Jang – the attentive visitor finds plenty of Far Eastern thought here. A true place of peace and relaxation. Cyclists’ hearts, what more could you want!
But enough of the rest and back on the bike! Because it will certainly be varied on the way. Mine tunnels and mining relics in the localities along the routes testify to the former trade of the inhabitants. In the meantime, agriculture has established itself. We cycle between fields and through forests and reach the southernmost point of the round trip in the so-called Frauenwald near Schwarzenholz. The history engraved in numerous boundary stones by the roadside bears witness to the territorial fragmentation that the entire district of Saarlouis had before the French Revolution. Twelve lordships were represented here, including Saarwellingen and Schwarzenholz. Therefore, looking at historic boundary stones means leafing through the stony book of history.
