Myths and Legends Route

From the Haus des Gastes with its remarkable Mushroom Museum, we stroll through the picturesque old town of Bad Laasphe up to the mountain hut "Zur Teufelskanzel". There, on the heights above the Laasphe valley, awaits a story from the Laasphe legend source, with a view of the majestic ancestral castle of the Counts of Wittgenstein. Shortly afterwards, the actual circular route begins, which we follow slowly uphill along the left slope of the Laasphe valley to the Neesbach valley. We are accompanied by the legend of the wild hunter in the Botzebach valley and the unfortunate Countess Elisabeth Charlotte. In a mystical mood and after a calming look at the idyllic Nessbach valley, we hike up to the plateau below the Hainrot, where a seating area on a forest meadow under magnificent chestnut trees invites you to rest halfway. Through beautiful beech high forest, we start the return journey above the Puderbach valley and learn some things about Boniface's stay in Puderbach. Shortly before the Krautkopf, the enchanted forest opens, and we have a beautiful view of the Wittgenstein mountain landscape. Then we reach the impressive Teufelskanzel, from where the witches took flight to the Teufelslücken. With another impressive view of Wittgenstein Castle, the route goes back through forest and past meadows to Bad Laasphe.
