Vogtland hiking trail in the sign of the Löwenkopf

The rock paths 1-5 invite you to explore geology and nature in the heart of Vogtland.

Rock Path 1 takes you on a route from rock to rock around the state-recognized resort Grünbach. Whether Kleine Affenstein, Elsenfelsen, Rinnelstein, Genesenstein or Wendelstein – each rock on the romantic and mystical round is worth discovering. Each has its own magic or can tell stories: about geological specialties, legends associated with the stone, or cultural history. At Wendelstein, you also encounter the rock formation "Löwenkopf", which has become the emblem of the Rock Paths. Geologically significant is the so-called "overturned fold" at Rehhübelfelsen. What forces must once have acted deep inside the earth there?

The forest settlement "Sieh-dich-für" is especially mystical. An adventurous legend is woven around the place name here.

Directions

From the starting board, follow the rock path marking on the Musikantensteig first to the Kleine Affenstein (see information board). The Rock Path 1 continues to the Sagen- and Rinnelstein. The next highlight is the Rehhübelfelsen with an overturned rock fold (information board). The hiking trail leads further to the year-round cross-country ski trail Grünbach (turn left after 300 m and cross the federal road), along the old Fronweg to the former Muldenberg station. There, follow the marking left towards "Oberer Floßgraben" to Hammerbrücke / district "Rißbrücke". A detour to the Rißfälle below is possible here. Continuing on the route, you will discover the Elsenfelsen, the fallow deer enclosure at the "Nordic Camp", and reach the Vogtlandbahn stop Grünbach (from there a shortcut back to the starting point is possible). Continuing the path, it leads the hiker to the Genesenstein and from there to the gardening association "Schwarzer Stein" in Grünbach. From there, a detour to the Schwarzer Stein with a children's playground and the "Versteinerter Mönch" is possible. At the gardening association, continue following the Rock Path 1 marking, cross the main road in Grünbach, and return to the forest and the elongated Wendelstein massif with the rock formation Löwenkopf – the highlight of the route (on the northern part of the rock ridge). Via the stages Grünbach district Oberwinn, Grünbach Pfannenstiel, Siehdichfür, Alter Mühlteich and Obersiehdichfür, you return via a forest path to the starting point at the Wanderparkplatz / ski hut Grünbach.
