Active holidaymakers enjoy a diverse gastronomy in the historic town centers. They give in to sweet temptations in the classic spa café or refresh themselves with fresh delights from the region. And these are often seasoned with the salt from the depths of the Osnabrück region, the key to the healing tradition in the health resorts.
Except for Bad Essen, which is too far away for this rather short route, you can energetically cycle the spas and health resorts during the Sole & Kneipp Tour.
Set out on the 50-kilometer circular cycling route. The starting signal is given at the largest graduation towers in Western Europe in Bad Rothenfelde. Here, the brine trickles over huge blackthorn walls, spreading a refreshing climate like by the sea. Take a deep breath.
Always along the foot of the Kleiner Berg, you reach Bad Laer, also a brine spa, where the salty water trickles over blackthorn branches. Here, however, they form a pavilion that allows a particularly intense enjoyment of the aerosols inside.
Through the asparagus fields around Glandorf, the route continues to Bad Iburg. Take time for a short visit to the small but well-stocked clock museum and to Iburg Castle, which watches over the town from a spur of the Teutoburg Forest. Within its walls, you experience 1,000 years of history. After a relaxing stretch through shady, cool woods, the last part of the path leads through the Borgloh Switzerland near Hilter. But this is certainly no problem if you have refreshed yourself in the health resorts beforehand and take your time. Approach the inclines slowly and enjoy the panorama.
