The "Hochwälder" is one of the "Traumschleifen Saar-Hunsrück," largely running parallel to the "Stausee-Tafeltour," the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, and the "Bergener." Characteristic of the "Hochwälder" are varied forest sections with beautiful clearings, as well as idyllic stream valleys.

The ten-kilometer path is accessible year-round and especially suitable for families. It is rated as easy since only slight elevation differences need to be overcome. Plan for about two and a half hours of pure walking time.

The path was rated with 77 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.
