Wild Netzbach Trail

Close to the state capital Saarbrücken, the "primeval forest at the gates of the city" has been growing for about 20 years in the nature reserve and green heart of the Saar coal forest. Commercial use of the raw material wood is forgone here, so nature can develop in its own unique way. Uprooted trees, marshy swamp landscapes, peculiar creek courses, and small forest lakes are part of the former mining landscape program, as well as small mining heaps that are reclaimed by gnarled oaks.
