„Industriekultur andernorts“ - Die Ziegeleien Lage und Hollage

  • Exhibition
Osnabrück Photographic Society

Bricks, nothing but bricks: Workers at the Lage brickworks in the Lippe district produced millions of them during grueling seasonal labor at a family-run business that operated from 1909 to 1979. In 2001, the fully preserved facility was converted into an LWL Museum of Industrial Culture. Members of the Osnabrück Photographic Society visited the historic brickworks in East Westphalia. With this visit, the society once again explored “industrial culture elsewhere,” a theme that has been the focus of rotating photo exhibitions at the MIK Museum
Industrial Culture Osnabrück. Another excursion took the photographers to the Hollager Brickworks, which shapes the character of the Wallenhorst district in the Osnabrück county, not far from the MIK. At Berentelg & Hebrok, a company belonging to the ABC Klinker Group, clinker bricks are still produced from clay today.

The photographs from both production sites complement the major special exhibition “Building the Future: How Do We Want to Live and Dwell?”, which will be on view in the Magazingebäude through November 1, 2026. At the same time, they tie in with the theme “Craftsmanship” for the following year, 2027.
