The Marienkirche, one of the first Protestant church buildings, was built mainly because of the prosperity of the town, which Hornburg achieved through hop growing and trading. The church, built between 1614-1616, makes use of architectural styles from several epochs and features an unusually rich interior for a Protestant church.
