Church

Grünenplan church was built by the glassworks owner Bergrat Koch and is decorated with glass objects from the Fusing workshop in Grünenplan. The Cross of Hope is one of the most impressive.

Bergrat Koch had the church built in his garden. It was consecrated in 1856. It was not until 1876 that master carpenter August Bock from Grünenplan built the gallery above the entrance. The organ (by Heinrich Faber, Salzhemmendorf) was added in the same year. The church was renovated in the early 60s. The baptismal font is from 1854.

In 2006, to mark the 150th anniversary of the church, the glass artist Erich Pleyer from Grünenplan donated a glass cross that he had made. It consists of six panels with biblical motifs and Christian symbols. The illuminated glass cross has its place above the altar. The cost of the glass cross was covered by Wolfgang Krippendorf, a descendant of Bergrate Koch. Further glass pictures and a glass baptismal font by Mr. Pleyer decorate the parish hall. The Cross of Hope was made using the glass fusing technique. The donor's wish was that this cross should be preserved for a long time and give people what the pictures want to say: Hope.
