Hohe Kirche Lemgow

Church
The High Church stands virtually in the middle of nowhere. Its origins can be dated back to 1300, although the current building was erected much later.

The High Church stands in the middle of the fields between the villages of Kriwitz, Predöhl and Trabuhn. It is surrounded only by a cemetery and a few trees. The nearest houses are a good kilometer away. It is assumed that a place of worship of the Wendish Linonians living here was located at this site, in the middle of what is now Lemgow, even before Christianization.

The origins of the church probably date back to well into the 1300s. The current building is not quite that old. However, at least the tower is said to be a proud 570 years old.

The nave, in which each village traditionally had its own space, was renovated in the 18th century and fitted with an organ by Hanoverian organ builder Eduard Meyer in the mid-19th century.
