Experience tradition: Wöltingerode Monastery Estate
Almost 1000 years have passed since Wöltingerode Monastery was founded and yet the impressive grounds have lost none of their appeal. Mighty buildings and ancient trees create a wonderful ambience and the large church tower, visible from afar, invites you to visit the lovingly maintained monastery estate. Over 330 years ago, the Cistercian nuns introduced the art of distilling to Wöltingerode and produced exquisite liqueurs, digestible bitters and the legendary Kloster Edelkorn, which is stored in wooden barrels, from fine wheat brandy. The monastery distillery has remained true to this tradition to this day.
Tour of the monastery distillery
Visitors can experience the unique ambience of the distillery and the high quality of the award-winning products for themselves on a guided tour. In addition to many interesting facts about the art of distilling, visitors will also learn interesting facts about the history of the monastery and its sponsor, the Hanover Monastery Chamber, during the subsequent tasting in the vaults under the monastery church or in the monastery kiln. Other facilities are also available to guests: Restaurant "Klosterkrug" with beer garden, monastery hotel, salmon center, monastery church, monastery apiary, monastery herb garden and the fallow deer enclosure.
