How would you like to arrive?
Located on a small ridge on the edge of the Leinegraben, it greets you from afar - the former monastery church of Wittenburg. The church surprises with a length of 44 m. Even from the outside, a division into two parts is noticeable: The choir to the east and the former lay church to the west - an ideal space for cultural events such as concerts and exhibitions. The choir of the church has served as a parish church since 1590. The stone mensa and the oak choir stalls are evidence of monastic times. The richly decorated baptismal font from 1590 was a gift from the Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg on the occasion of the establishment of the parish church. The organ is the first work (1839) by the famous organ builder Philipp Furtwängler from Elze. The neo-Gothic-style altarpiece, pulpit, gallery and lectern (1884) are the work of Hanoverian master builder Conrad Wilhelm Hase.
