Lake
The Northeimer Seenplatte is a destination for anyone who enjoys being outdoors by the water.

The Northeim Lake District is a major part of Northeim's cultural and leisure life offering activities on the large lake in the areas of
  • Sailing
  • (Wind)surfing
  • Stand-up paddling (SUP)
  • Fishing
  • Water rescue and
  • Model boat rides on.
A 1.6 km circular path around the recreational lake is ideal for cycling, jogging or walking. A special windsurfing beach has been designated for windsurfing. This is easily accessible from the Nordhafen parking lot.

The lake district was created by gravel extraction and  covers an area of around 360 hectares and currently consists of 12 artificial lakes.
The size of the lake is approx. 80 hectares. The released area is formed by approx. 47 ha area. The water depth is max. 38 m and the size of the island in the middle of the lake is approx. 29 ha.

For bathers, there is a large sunbathing lawn available at the gravel lake. The open bathing area has no infrastructure (such as toilets, changing rooms, bathing jetty, bathing island, benches, etc.) or supervisory services. It can be used free of charge during the day. The Restaurant "Seeterrassen" rents out pedal boats. More information can be found on the website of the Northeimer Bootsverleihs.

Nature lovers can visit the unique "Northeim Lake District Waterfowl Reserve" not only as a destination for water sports activities, but also to discover the lake district as a protected habitat for flora and fauna.

Motorhome travelers can park in the parking lot at the Kiessee "Am Nordhafen". This is located directly near the highway 7 (exit Northeim Nord -> follow the signs to the lake) with corresponding unloading and supply options.
