The Junges Theater has been housed in the home of the classical scholar Carl Otfried Müller, built in 1836, since 1976. It was founded in 1957 as an alternative to the city and state theaters.

The Communication and Action Center (KAZ) is also located here. Göttingen's weekly market takes place on the square behind it every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The building of the Junges Theater (Otfried Müller House) will be renovated from summer 2019. The new venue is the former Voigtschule on Bürgerstraße.
