Saline Luisenhall

In the middle of the 19th century, a Göttingen resident guessed from the vegetation that the soil at this location was particularly rich in salt. He confirmed this assumption by means of test drillings. He discovered salt at a depth of almost 462 meters. As a result, he founded the salt works in 1850.
Even today, it is still possible to gain a direct insight into the work on site, as the salt works is a living industrial monument.
