The Auensee combines urban bustle, the unique character of the floodplain forest with adventure and urban history.
Auensee, as the name suggests, is located entirely in Leipzig's alluvial forest and was created in 1910 as a gravel pit for the construction of Leipzig's main railway station. With its pirate playground, park railway, paddle boats and snack bar, it's a great place to relax in good weather, even if you can't jump into the water. With the Weiße Elster to the north, the Neue Luppe to the south and plenty of greenery all around, but still in the middle of the city - the location of the Auensee in the north-west of Leipzig is unique.

The Auensee has a lot to offer families. The highlight is the historic park railway, but the beer garden, rowing boats and adventure playground also invite you to play and linger.
