St. Severinus und Jacobus Kirche Minsen

Church
The current church building dates back to the 13th century, judging by its design.
The village church stands on a high mound.
The brick bell tower stands 12 meters from the south side of the church. Four strong parallel walls carry three bells in their interstices, the oldest of which bears the date 1747.

The 17th century altar is well worth seeing. It has adorned the church since February 1998 and originally comes from Groß-Partwitz, a village in Lusatia that had to make way for lignite mining.

The ceiling fresco in the apse dates back to the Middle Ages and depicts Christ as the Judge of the World with sword and lily.

The organ from 1841 was built by the Oldenburg master Schmid.
The parish of Minsen also includes the St. Nikolai Church in Schillig, built in 1976/77, and the Paul-Gerhardt-Haus in Horumersiel.
