The 3-Lake route starts in an idyllic setting at the Kurpark pond in Weiskirchen. From here, it goes along the Holzbach past the Marien Grotto towards Konfeld. Through an open meadow landscape, the route passes a favorite spot of Saarschleifenland, the chapel of Marian devotion in the Friedwald between Wadern and Weiskirchen. Through a forest section, you reach the recreational center around Noswendel Lake. Although Noswendel Lake is not a bathing lake, there are many opportunities to linger around the lake. A round with the pedal boat is a welcome change on the bike ride. Also inviting is the catering organized by the local heritage and tourism association at the lake – especially on Sundays when the large cake buffet is laid out.
The route continues past the wine beach at the Schwarzrinder lakes towards Weierweiler. The smallest district of the municipality of Weiskirchen is still influenced by agriculture. Many farmhouses adorn the small village scene. Passing through the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park village, the route goes over an open landscape to Münchweiler Castle. The baroque residence was built according to plans by Imperial Baron Franz Georg Zant von Merl between 1752 and 1785 and has been family-owned for eight generations. Today, it houses a hotel and café. An audio guide accessible via QR codes at 17 stations provides insights into the history and special features of the impressive complex.
Behind Münchweiler Castle, the route follows the Losheim stream past Dellborn Mill to Niederlosheim. Here, a detour to the “Backmol” bakery is worthwhile. Traditional baking methods, unique recipes, and a glass bakery make the bakery experience tangible. From Niederlosheim, it goes to the center of Losheim am See. The museum railway station is a highlight for train fans. From the center, the route goes up to the Losheim reservoir. Around the lake, some recreational and resting opportunities, such as the brewery, invite for a longer stop.
Through forests, meadows, and fields, the route goes via Mitlosheim and Rappweiler back to the starting point in Weiskirchen. In the perennial garden at the Kurpark pond, in the House of Guests, or the beer garden of the Parkhotel, you can relaxingly end the 3-Lake route.
