Directions

The start is in Bautzen at Schützenplatz.

  • You cycle eastward and follow the marking of the Saxon Cities Route to Niederkaina.
  • There you leave the Saxon Cities Route, cycle straight ahead and at the next intersection turn left to Kreckwitz.
  • You cross the motorway and turn right at the stone column towards Kleinbautzen. In the village, you can visit the Protestant church from the 17th century with its Renaissance-style church portal.
  • You turn left into Puschwitzer Street and at the next fork keep right, cycling past the dairy farm.
  • You continue to Preititz. Here you turn left and follow Alte Dorfstraße (Old Village Street).
  • At the manor farm, turn right and follow the marking "Sorbian Impressions".
  • If the "Sorbian Impressions" turn right after the ford/bridge, you cycle straight ahead and turn left at the next intersection to reach Baruth.
  • Pass the sports field, go across the marketplace, keep straight and ride into Am Wasserturm Street.
  • At Cortnitzer Street, keep right again and continue cycling to the Baruth manor farm.
  • Here you meet again the Sorbian Impressions marking which you follow via Cortnitz, Gröditz and Weicha to Weißenberg marketplace. In Gröditz, you can visit a beautiful village ensemble (around 1780), the castle, the Protestant church and a timber-framed house from around 1800. In Weißenberg, you experience a charming town layout with the baroque town hall and the Protestant church from the 13th century. The technical museum "Old Pepper Kitchen" awaits your visit.
  • You leave the marketplace towards Reichenbach. At the next intersection turn right, and at the next junction turn right again on the street-side cycle path.
  • At its end turn right and at the intersection after the settlement turn left to Maltitz.
  • Following the main street you reach Nostitz. Here you can visit a castle ruin from the 17th century, a manor house and the Protestant church.
  • At the first intersection turn right and follow the street to S 112, cross it and follow the Lindenallee to Lauske.
  • At the end of Lindenallee turn right, then keep left cycling through Lauske. You should definitely visit the artificial ruin from 1807 in the park here.
  • You leave Lauske towards Rodewitz, where a Dutch windmill can be admired.
  • In Rodewitz, before the 90° curve (shortly before the fire station), turn left and cycle to Niethen. In Niethen you can visit the Schanze (Niethen fortress mound from the 10th century).
  • Before the village entrance turn right. You reach Wawitz.
  • At S 110 you meet again the Saxon Cities Route, which you follow back to the starting point of the route in Bautzen.
