From the 1993 closed open-cast mine Delitzsch-Southwest, a unique natural landscape has now emerged after flooding from the Neue Luppe. The post-mining landscape has become habitat to numerous sensitive bird species. The magnificent view to the north of the lake extends far over the water. With some luck, some of the 179 bird species recorded so far, such as bluethroat, redstart, and white-tailed eagle, can be spotted.
The area of Werbeliner See is well developed for visitors. In total, four large public parking lots are available on the edges. From there, several paths invite cycling, hiking, skating, etc. You can pause at various viewpoints and resting places. Here you can let your soul dangle. Become one with nature and immerse yourself in this landscape of rare beauty.
