Hike along the Parthe River

Biodiversity and variety are the signature feature of the Parthenaue. At every bend of the trail, hikers can enjoy exciting views of a varied forest-meadow-field landscape with valley floodplains and moraine hills. Two nature monument areas as well as almost 60 protected biotopes are an expression of the diverse habitats with rich populations of plants and animals worthy of protection. The Parthe hiking trail leads through hospitable villages and towns with their cultural offerings and is a true nature refuge.

Directions

From Mariannenpark with the large park meadow, the castle and the Schönefeld Memorial Church, the path leads out of the city of Leipzig always along the Parthe River through the Abtnauendorfer Park with its castle and old trees and the idyllic pond farther in the direction of Taucha. The small town surprises by medieval remains of the city wall, the manor castle and a former brewery from the times of the Renaissance, which today houses the municipal museum, the municipal library and a restaurant. From the lookout tower at the city park, you can once again enjoy a wide view of the city and the Parthenaue. From here, the path continues in a southeasterly direction to Borsdorf or further to Beucha.
