Directions

The tour begins at Obermarkt. From here, first walk along Brüderstraße to Untermarkt and then turn right into Weberstraße. Walk straight ahead across Elisabethplatz, then continue along Joliot-Curie-Straße and Dr.-Kahlbaum-Allee. Follow this for about one kilometer and then turn left into Blockhausstrasse. After about 500 meters you will reach the Landskron BRAU-MANUFAKTUR on the left. Since 1869, brewing has been done here behind listed brick walls using traditional craft methods and open, hand-held fermentation. In the visitor center or on a guided tour you can learn all about the eventful history of the multi-award-winning, traditional beer and of course you can also taste it. Afterwards you walk along Dr.-Kahlbaum-Allee back to the city park. Here you turn right in front of the park and walk over the city bridge to Zgorzelec, the Polish part of the city. Before the roundabout, turn onto Daszyńskiego towards the Zgorzelec waterfront. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to stop off at one of the numerous restaurants and try Polish specialties such as bigos (a type of stew with cabbage and meat) or pierogi (filled dumplings) while enjoying a fantastic view of the Neisse and Görlitz's old town backdrop. You then walk back to Görlitz over the old town bridge. You should make your next stop directly at the bridge, below St. Peter's Church. At the “Eisstern” you can choose from numerous homemade ice cream creations as well as soft ice cream and sorbets. Streusel toppings, chocolate toppings and delicious waffles round off the delicious ice cream treat. Just a few meters further on Neißstrasse is the "Hausbrauerei Bierblume", where exceptional beers such as the "Erlkaiser" or the "1717" are brewed. Here you have the opportunity to take part in a craft beer tasting with a qualified beer sommelier. You will also learn all sorts of interesting facts about how barley juice is produced. Then follow Neißstrasse up to reach the Untermarkt, where numerous restaurants invite you to feast in a unique historical ambience. Try the traditional dish “Silesian Kingdom of Heaven”, for example in the beautiful garden of the Patrician House “St. Jonathan".It's also worth taking a detour to the "Caféhaus Lucullus" on Peterstrasse. Traditional Silesian sweets await you here, such as poppy seed pies and poppy seed cakes, as well as delicious tea and coffee specialties. Finally, walk along Brüderstrasse back to the Obermarkt. Opposite the Reichenbacher Turm is home to the “Sugarwork and Vine Juice” gourmet workshop. At the end of your tour, let yourself be inspired by fine confectionery creations made in-house, for example the “Görlitz praline”, which also makes a wonderful souvenir.
