Rail trail cycling from the Zschopau Pearl Waldheim to the Mulde city Rochlitz

This varied cycling route connects the Zschopau city Waldheim with the Mulde city Rochlitz and follows large sections of the former railway line. Thanks to the moderate gradient of the historic route, the tour offers a relaxed riding experience for families and leisure cyclists.

A special highlight of the route is the section through the idyllic Erlbach valley. Here you pass the Obstmühle, a listed mill complex that, with its impressive half-timbered construction and the charm of an old four-sided farmstead, provides an authentic testimony to Saxon industrial culture. Where trains once stopped at the Obstmühle station, cyclists now enjoy the peace of nature.

Safety guidelines

Between Obstmühle and Döhlen the route leads for about 1.5 km over a public, only about 2 m wide and very winding municipal road through the Mühlental. Due to poor visibility, special caution is required here as, despite low traffic volume, oncoming cars or agricultural vehicles may appear at any time. In this section, the tour leaves the separately led cycle path and runs mixed traffic.
