The highlight of this half-day route is the most beautiful view that Saarland has to offer: the view from the Cloef viewpoint over the Saarschleife. Since 2016, there has been a treetop path above the Cloef with an impressive 42-meter-high tower. From the platform, you get unique panoramic views of the landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, the Saarschleife, and all the way to France.

The tourist information office is housed in the Cloef Atrium, where the route starts. A few minutes later, you reach the view from the Cloef viewpoint over the Saarschleife. Since 2006, the Saarschleife has been a "National Geotope."

At the tip of the mountain spur surrounded by the Saar, you can see on the opposite side the partially restored Montclair castle ruins. The castle, first documented in 1168 and surrounded by many legends and stories, was one of the most impressive fortresses in Germany and considered impregnable.

The further down you go into the Steinbachtal nature reserve, the wetter and darker the narrow ravine becomes. Many rocks and deadwood are overgrown with thick mosses. Where sunlight penetrates, various lichens grow on the rock walls. This valley is breathtakingly quiet. Numerous stair steps and wooden bridges lead the path directly to the Saar riverbank.

From the Saar riverbank, 200 meters of elevation must be overcome. The ascent on the steep slope requires sure-footedness and good stamina on the narrow path.

The path was rated with 96 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.
