- Start: Boathouse at Noswendeler Lake
- Destination: Boathouse at Noswendeler Lake
The hike starts along the lakeside path. Shortly after the start, the Kneipp facility is passed, and a little later the Noswendeler Lake leisure center is crossed. Over a wooden boardwalk it goes into the nature reserve "Noswendeler Bruch."
The boardwalk runs between Mühlenbach and water wilderness. The nature reserve of over 150 hectares, home to meadow pipit, reed warbler, snipe, and red-backed shrike, has been designated a European bird sanctuary because of its biodiversity and is one of the largest of its kind in Saarland. The wind rustles through the man-high reed beds that seem impenetrable, bird sounds come from all directions, and one seems to have entered another world.
Behind the guesthouse "Alte Mühle" with a beer garden, natural paths meander through the forest. We are in the Wadern State Forest. Deep forest passages with gnarly oaks and beeches alternating with open landscapes and wide views dominate the scenery in the second part of the hike. When the forest is finally left, the Noswendeler reservoir lies down in the valley.
By the way: The name of the dream loop comes from the water bird snipe. The mating call, caused by the wings, sounds like the bleating of a goat, hence the snipe is also called "heaven goat" (Himmelsgäas).
The path was rated with 60 experience points by the Hiking Institute.
