The starting point is in Pirna, where the old town with its historic market square, town hall, St. Mary's Church and the town museum provides an impressive backdrop right at the beginning. From here, the route follows a very well-developed cycle path through Heidenau towards Dresden, where a wealth of sights await.
In Dresden, the "Blue Wonder", the Loschwitz Elbe bridge, is the first impressive sight before the route leads to the highlights of Dresden's old town. The baroque Frauenkirche, the Zwinger, the Semper Opera House and the Royal Palace are just as worth seeing as the Transport Museum and the City Museum. The diverse gastronomy in the city center also invites you to linger, while Dresden Neustadt on the opposite side of the Elbe attracts visitors with its lively trendy district, creative art projects and nightlife.
A little further out of town, having already cycled along the green Elbe meadows, the Gohlis windmill offers another opportunity for a rest and exploration.
The route continues through Klipphausen, where the Schulzemühle miniature mill, for example, is open on the first Sunday of every month in summer. A short detour to Scharfenberg is worthwhile to visit the former Grube Güte Gottes mine and take a look inside the Hoffnungsschacht. You then roll on to Meissen, which is famous for its porcelain tradition and wine-growing. Here, the historic old town, the Albrechtsburg Meissen, the imposing cathedral and the healing and herb garden of the Meissen Social Projects Foundation will entice you. The HAUS MEISSEN adventure world offers insights into the art of porcelain production and the winegrowers from Rothen Gut Meissen invite you to visit their vineyard on the left bank of the Elbe.
From Meissen, the route continues through the postcard-perfect landscape to Zehren and Hirschstein, where idyllic villages and wide fields line the route. In Riesa, the Nudelcenter Riesa, the city museum, the monastery and the zoo await visitors. The town also offers an exciting mix of industrial history and leisure activities. Further north, the cycle path leads to Strehla and the legendary Nixstein. Stories are told here about the "Nixe", which is embedded in the landscape and inspires the imagination. A little further on, you reach the "Am Nixstein" inn, the ideal place for a break. TheStrehla ferry connects the left bank of the Elbe with Lorenzkirch on the right bank and is the only crossing point for cyclists between Riesa and Mühlberg.
The final section leads along the Elbe to Torgau, the northernmost point of the route. The 1,000-year history of the Renaissance town can be discovered at numerous historical sites. The Renaissance market square forms the heart of the old town and Hartenfels Castle, the most important early Renaissance castle in Germany, is a highlight worth seeing. The castle's Hausmannsturm tower offers an exciting view over the countryside and the green meadows along the Elbe. Torgau marks the end of this impressive route before you can return to Pirna via the route on the right bank of the Elbe.

Directions
The route starts in Pirna on the old town side, at the ferry landing stage on the Elbe. Most of it runs directly along the Elbe and is very well signposted with the "Elberadweg" symbol.
The start is below Pirna's old town at the traffic circle on the Elbe. Here the route turns right off the road and runs directly along the Elbe via Heidenau to Dresden.
Opposite Pillnitz Castle, the route continues past the Elbe meadows on the cycle path before turning left briefly in Dresden-Laubegast on the Kleinzschachwitzer Ufer or Österreichische Straße, but then turning right again after the Laubegaster Werft shipyard onto Coselgasse and then along the riverbank to the Blaues Wunder.
The route continues across the Elbe meadows, under the Waldschlößchenbrücke bridge to the Terrassenufer below Dresden's old town. Before the Marienbrücke bridge, the route turns left, continues straight on through the Ostra sports park and past the Alberthafen harbor before finally following the riverbank again.
A few meters after the Gohlis windmill, the Elbe cycle path turns left along Windmühlenstraße into the village of Gohlis. Keep right again here to cycle along Elbstraße and Dorfstraße. Then continue across the fields and meadows to the Elbe bridge in Niederwartha. Keep right here after the ferry house and cycle under the bridge before continuing right along the Elbe.
In Wildberg, the route leads straight on through the village and along the Alte Dorfstraße to Constappel. Here you turn right and cycle along the Wilde Sau river again close to the Elbe via Gauernitz and Scharfenberg straight on to Meißen. Cycle through the town on the cycle path between Hochuferstraße and the river. The route then continues via Keilbusch and Mischwitz to Zehren, where it turns right just before the village and, after a few bends, runs along Leipziger Straße, which is left on the right again after a few meters. The cycle path crosses Niedermuschützer Straße for approx. 200 meters, but then also turns right towards the shore and continues to wind its way to the Göhrischgärtnerei.
Turn right again here and follow the path over the Hebelei to Niederlommatzsch. There, turn left at the ferry onto Fährgasse, then immediately right onto Hirschsteiner Weg and continue along Elbstraße to Neuhirschstein. Before the castle, turn right onto the Elbe cycle path to Althirschstein. Turn left here over the Alte Försterei, then immediately right again over Fährstraße and after the village turn left again onto the Elbe cycle path. In Boritz, turn left onto Leckwitzer Straße and then right onto Zum Kreuzstein onto Schänitzer Straße.
In Schänitz, the route leads along Leutewitzer Straße, then right again to the Elbe and left across the fields to Riesa. You cycle around the town along the Elbe. Via Elbstraße, Breite Straße and Bahnhofstraße, the route returns directly to the river and crosses the town's two Elbe bridges. Then follow the path over a small bridge, turn left into Kirchstraße and right again into Flurenstraße directly in front of the church, then follow Steinstraße to the right again and cross the fields to Oppitzsch. In Oppitzsch, turn left onto Altoppitzscher Straße and then immediately right again to Strehla.
In Strehla, take Oppitzscher Weg to the right onto Riesaer Straße and after approx. 800 m turn right again onto the main road. After a few meters, turn right and continue left along the Elbe towards Görzig.
At the guest house "Am Nixstein", first turn right onto Trebnitzer Weg and after approx. 300 m turn left onto Görziger Straße. Turn right at the next junction and leave the village in the direction of Lößnig.
Before Lößnig, turn sharp left towards Paußnitz, drive through the village of Paußnitz via Lößniger Straße and Dorfstraße and then follow the B182/Strehlaer Straße to Schirmenitz on the right.
In Schirmenitz, turn right into Schulstraße, follow it to Aussig and cycle around the town along the Dahle tributary or via the B182 to Seydewitz. Here the route turns left into Strehlaer Straße. After Burkhardtshof, keep right at the rest area, then cycle across the fields and, after crossing the B182, via Lindenplatz to Plotha. Continue cycling along the Kiessee lake to reach Döschkau.
In Döschkau, turn right after the manor onto Brautweg and continue through the countryside to Ammelgosswitz, keep left there, cycle past the old Schlenker'schen estate and follow the cycle path to Belgern.
Keep left before Belgern, follow the path along the harbor and cycle around the town to the east directly along the Elbe. Cycle left again along the Triftweg towards Belgern and leave the town at the next junction on the right towards Döbeltitz.
Continue across the fields and cycle left across the "Elbaue" through Döbeltitz to reach the next village, Kranichau. Turn left onto Elbstrasse, take a sharp right and then left again towards Weßnig.
In Weßnig, turn left into Lindenstraße, continue straight on, cross the B182 and take Dorfstraße to Bennewitz. There, before the ponds, turn right onto the road "Am Schinderbusch", which then follows the Flößgengraben for a while and from there continue straight on to Loßwig. You will also cross the B182 again.
After the cemetery, turn right into the street "An den Linden" and after 400 m turn left again to leave the village in the direction of Torgau via the path "Zur Loßwiger Lünette".
In Torgau, continue straight ahead along the Elbe, past the harbor castle and over the harbor bridge, then turn right onto the Fischerdörfchen path, turn left at the next bend and follow the path straight ahead to the B87. Turn right onto Fischerstraße and follow it straight ahead to the market. You have now reached the end of the stage in the center of Torgau.
