During this bike tour around Berzdorfer See near Görlitz, you will get to know the surroundings. Enjoy the various places to stop and eat by the lake.

A paradise for water lovers has emerged in the last decade due to the renaturation of a mining landscape directly on the southern city boundary of Görlitz. The nearly 1,000-hectare and 72-meter deep Berzdorfer See is not only the fifth-largest lake in Saxony but also one of the most popular.
The 16 km long mostly paved path around the lake passes bathing areas, playgrounds, and a nature reserve (here you must dismount and push your bike!). Along the shore and its immediate surroundings, cyclists, skaters, and hikers enjoy nature and views all year round. Water sports enthusiasts such as surfers, sailors, and stand-up paddlers can fully indulge their passion on Berzdorfer See. A boat trip on the water with EMS Berzdorf is a beautiful experience. Simply swimming is of course also possible – you can dive into the crystal-clear and refreshing lake water from several beach areas.

Directions

Start the bike route around Berzdorfer See directly at the northeast beach. Here begins the beautiful sandy beach and nearby there are playgrounds, culinary offers, parking lots, and public toilets. The well-developed path along the lake is perfect for cycling.
Now head south along Deutsch-Ossig, where you will find more culinary offers such as the hearty experiential gastronomy of Carari or the milk bar with delicious ice cream varieties.
On the way to the harbor, you pass the hotel "Insel der Sinne." A stop here is also worthwhile. The wellness hotel has a spacious lake terrace with a restaurant.
Then ride around the peninsula, where there is a goat enclosure. It's worth dismounting to watch the goats in their large open enclosure. The next stop is the harbor. Here you can enjoy the view and continue to other attractive offers. From the harbor, you can also reach Hagenwerder, where the huge bucket-wheel excavator 1452 is located, which you can visit.
The bike route continues towards the hotel "Gut am See," located in the manor complex of the former Tauchritz estate. On the grounds is also the water castle Tauchritz, which is ideal for a photo stop.
Then continue along the lake to the Blue Lagoon. Here you can stop for swimming, volleyball, or various water activities. From here, you also have the possibility to ride to the Neuberzdorfer Höhe viewing tower.
The route continues along the lake shore back to the northeast beach. On the western shore, there is a section that is a nature reserve (Landslide P). Through this area, bikes must be pushed.
