Three districts and sweeping views around the Heidberg

This enjoyable, short circular hike connects the three Gornau districts of Dittmannsdorf, Witzschdorf and Gornau to create a tour full of scenic variety. Depending on your preference, you can start in any of the three villages - the trail opens up the region around the Heidberg in a natural way.

If you start in Dittmannsdorf, you are immediately greeted by a lovingly designed farm with an idyllic pond. A small wood provides pleasant shade before the view opens up over wide fields and meadows. The path leads gently uphill along a wide field path with impressive panoramic views. After a short while, the trail turns right again downhill towards Gornau.

A quiet deciduous forest offers cool relaxation as the path leads past several small ponds with reflective water surfaces. A small bridge takes hikers directly into a residential area of Gornau, but after just a few hundred meters the path turns off into the countryside again.

Over meadow paths and along gentle hills, the route offers impressive panoramic views of the Höllmühl and Zschopau valleys. In the distance, Augustusburg Castle - the "crown of the Erzgebirge" - towers majestically over the landscape and accompanies hikers on the last section of this all-round successful tour.

Directions

The hike begins in the Dittmannsdorf district of Tampel at the address Neue Straße 18, the location of the "Friedolin Guts", which is well-known in the region and serves as the starting point.

From there, a wide path first leads through a small wood, then further uphill along a field path. At a crossroads, hikers turn right onto the Alter Böhmischer Steig, which continues uphill. At the next signpost, turn right again onto the path towards Gornau.

The route runs through another small wooded area and over a bridge before reaching the road An der Linde in Gornau. Follow this road straight ahead in the direction of Heidberg. After some distance, hikers turn right again. The route now leads through an open field and meadow landscape with sweeping views of the surrounding area.

At the next signpost, turn right one last time and shortly afterwards you will return to the starting point.

B174 to Gornau, and then from Gornau to Dittmannsdorf to the sports hall or to Witzschdorf to the Schlossblick parking space, also possible via the B180

Parking is available in Dittmannsdorf near the church or at the sports field. There is also a parking lot for hikers at the sports field in Witzschdorf.
