At the end of the 18th century, robber captain Johannes Karaseck (Jan Nepomuk Karasek) and his pikemen unsettled the southern Upper Lusatia.

The circular hiking trail leads through forest and fields. It is accompanied by information boards that recall the scenes of the events back then (including Karasekschenke, Dreieckersteine, former robber spruce, overgrown enclave border walls, Kreibichschenke) and to beautiful viewpoints.

Leutersdorf, Seifhennersdorf, Neugersdorf: circular hiking trails

Karasek took advantage of the confused border conditions of that time and operated from the former Bohemian enclave Niederleutersdorf (1635-1849). To this day, the legend of the "noble robber" who took from the rich and gave to the poor is alive in folklore. Today, two circular hiking trails commemorate the formerly eventful time: the Pascherrunde Leutersdorf (11 km) and the Karasekrunde (3.5 km), which also touch a part of the field boundaries of Neugersdorf and Seifhennersdorf. Both lead through a charming landscape. Thus, not only historically interesting border stones at the former border of the Bohemian enclave can be discovered, but also the former robber's nest, the Kreibichschenke. Guided tours on the Karasek circular trail are offered by the Leutersdorf trail steward and the Karasek Museum Seifhennersdorf.
