Directions
- From Hohnstein, we descend into the Bärengarten. There, we hike along the old wall ruins on a forest trail via the Halbenweg and the Räumichtweg toward Brandaussicht. After enjoying a fantastic panoramic view from this “Balcony of Saxon Switzerland,” situated 170 meters above the Polenz Valley, we descend 800 steps into the Tiefen Grund. After about 300 meters on the road, the Malerweg turns right and leads up the Dorfgrund to Waitzdorf. From the Waitzdorf loop trail, we follow the Mühlweg and reach the Kohlmühle via the Kohlichtgraben. The trail markers guide us into the Sebnitz Valley to the mouth of the Schwarzbach. We now hike along the Mühlweg to our destination for this stage, Altendorf, and enjoy the view of the Schrammsteine from there.

Via the A4 highway from Leipzig, Erfurt, and Görlitz: Continue on the A17 from Dresden toward Prague, taking the Pirna exit.
From Berlin: Take the A13, then the A4 toward Görlitz, taking the Ottendorf Okrilla or Burkau exits—both via Neustadt, Saxony.
