Hike in the footsteps of mining on the Eisernhardt. The circular hiking route leads to the almost forgotten relics of the Siegerland mining history.

GOOD LUCK!

The Association for Siegerland Mining e.V. (VSB) carried out various projects between 2005 and 2016 to preserve relics of Siegerland mining in the city area of Siegen and on the Eisernhardt. Some adits of the old mines were uncovered and equipped with a new, also nature conservation-compliant development at the mine entrance area. The work was based on templates from the 19th century to make the adit entrances as authentic as possible. After completing the work, these mines were incorporated into a circular hiking route. In the light version of the circular hiking route, the hiker receives information on 10 panels about the topics of Siegerland mining from the old times. For well over 2000 years, iron ore as well as valuable non-ferrous metal ores were mined and smelted in the Eisernhardt area. The traces of mining are still visible at many points of the 482-meter-high mountain. Where the ore veins broke through to the surface were the oldest mines. We would like to guide you to these places.
