Forest tour with far-reaching views and a panoramic mushroom

This panoramic circular hike starts at the Spiegelwaldbaude with the striking König-Albert viewing tower - the highest point of the tour and a must for anyone who enjoys gazing out over the green waves of the Ore Mountains. The trail leads through the spruce forest typical of the Ore Mountains to the edge of the forest, where a wide view of Grünhain opens up.

The trail now takes a leisurely turn to the left, once around the Spiegelwald forest. The route mostly runs along the edge of the forest and offers a pleasant interplay between light and shade. New perspectives of the surrounding landscape open up again and again, making it a walk for the eyes and the soul.

The path finally leads to the right to the viewing platform, affectionately known as the "balcony of the Ore Mountains". The view here is breathtaking and lives up to its name. A rest area invites you to take a break and enjoy the panorama. The route continues along the former railroad embankment until a short climb follows.

Once at the top, the route leads gently back to the starting point at the Spiegelwaldbaude. If you want to complete the tour, you should not skip the observation tower at the starting point. It is a worthy finale with a panoramic view of the wonders of the Ore Mountains. There are also several benches along the way for you to enjoy.

Directions

The hike begins at the Spiegelwaldbaude. From the starting point, hikers head into the forest via the playground, where the hut is on the right. Stay on the direct path to the edge of the forest and follow it to the left along the edge of the forest and then briefly into the forest.

Turn right at the road and take the path to the left at the next junction. Here you walk downhill to the lookout mushroom. Follow the path further downhill to the old railroad embankment and turn left there.

After a while, the old railroad embankment comes to the main road (August-Bebel-Straße). Keep left there and turn left again directly into the countryside. The path leads uphill along the edge of the forest and finally back to the point where you came out of the forest at the beginning. Keep left and return to the starting point at the Spiegelwaldbaude on the familiar path.
