Monument Hiking Trail Route 1 - Taubenheim/Spree

The route is 6.6 km long with an elevation difference of 150 m, and approximately 3 hours of walking time can be planned. The signage is good and clear, leading to each of the monuments.

The start is at the parking lot in the middle of the village on the street Am Bahnhof.

Walking southward, you cross the railway crossing and follow Neutaubenheimer Straße. You are then already in the forest on the ridge of Taubenberg and climb this central hill at the edge of the sundial village. Some of the monuments are located to the side of the path but are easy to find thanks to the signage. Descending from the highest point of Taubenberg and moving northwest, you reach the district Grünhut. At the forest edge, the path leads again eastwards and downhill northwards until the settlement is visible again. Here, turn right onto Am Bahndamm street and after crossing the already familiar railway crossing again, the starting point is reached.

• Car / Autobahn A4 Dresden - Görlitz, exit Bautzen Ost, B 96 towards Großpostwitz, right at the traffic light towards Schirgiswalde S 116 to Sohland roundabout, turnoff Oppach B 98 to the district Wassergrund, at the intersection right towards Taubenheim

• Bus / Line 511 Bautzen-Sohland-Wehrsdorf, Sohland Schule stop, about a 5-minute walk to the Rathaus stop; Line 725 Wehrsdorf-Taubenheim-Oppach, Taubenheim bus station stop, about a 2-minute walk to the starting point of the circular hike
• Train / Dresden-Zittau, Taubenheim stop, about a 2-minute walk to the starting point of the circular hike

After the hike, you can enjoy a good meal either at the inn Zum Bahnhof or opposite at Café Tippl.
