Some of the most beautiful natural spots in the region can be visited along the approximately 70 km long nature experience route. Highlights of the route include the Massenei forest area, the Hochstein region between Rammenau and Ohorn, the Schwedenstein in Steina with its observation tower, offering a magnificent 360-degree view of western Upper Lusatia, as well as the mountainous and forested surroundings of Elstra and the Butterberg with observation tower in Bischofswerda. A visit to the Bischofswerda animal and cultural park or to one of the region’s outdoor pools rounds off the nature experience.
Premium stations along the route are the Massenei swimming pool in Großröhrsdorf, the Butterberg in Bischofswerda, the Hausteinsee with diving school, the Schwedenstein in Steina, and also the Black Mountain Bikepark at Schwarzenberg in Elstra.

Safety guidelines
The nature experience route mainly runs over forest, meadow, and field paths and presents itself as a challenging route with a varied elevation profile and some longer climbs. The section through the Luchsenburg is suitable only for sporty cyclists with mountain bikes due to the condition of the paths.
