This nature-oriented tour leads from Zwickau via Glauchau to Hohenstein-Ernstthal, following the first 20 km along the Mulde cycle path and combining relaxed cycling with three artworks of the PURPLE PATH.

The circular route partially runs along the Chemnitz ring route and can be started flexibly at various points. When arriving by train, starting at Chemnitz main station is recommended, while for car arrivals, the Park & Ride Schönau is advisable. In principle, entry along the entire route is possible.

Along the route, there are a total of ten PURPLE PATH artworks that can be gradually discovered. The route is varied, leading both through the Chemnitz city center and quieter urban areas. The northern section runs through the Crimmitschau forest and the Küchwald park and, like the area around the castle pond, offers ideal opportunities for a short break or relaxation.

Large parts of the tour run on well-developed bike paths, but some sections also go on normal streets. Overall, this creates a versatile circular route that uniquely combines art, city, and nature.

The PURPLE PATH project:

The PURPLE PATH is a gigantic open-air art and sculpture trail around Chemnitz, Central Saxony, the Ore Mountains, and up to Zwickau, featuring more than 60 contemporary artworks.
