Marienkirche Neuhaus

Church
St Mary's Church in Neuhaus is a historic church, characterised by brick Gothic architecture, in the heart of the village.
There was already a small church made of fieldstones on the site of St Mary's Church in Neuhaus in 1614. The current building, a half-timbered structure, was erected between 1824 and 1826 and has room for around 800 visitors. The tower was renovated in 1885 and 1900. The church suffered considerable damage in April 1945, but was restored and re-consecrated by 1949. Between 1999 and 2003, it was the last ecclesiastical building in the Neuhaus district to be extensively renovated. A weekly market is held around the church on Thursdays from 8 am to 12 noon. On the first Thursday of each month, the market is opened with a community prayer service at 8 a.m. in the church.
