The Hohenkirch church, also known as the "Gaukirche", was the mother church of Wangerland for a long time. It stands on two mounds and, according to a document, must have been there as early as 1143.
Its treasures include the Ludwig Münstermann altar from 1620/28, the baptismal font from 1260 and a Joachim Kayser organ from 1694/99. Concerts are held in the church during the summer months.
